- R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 posted on 1/1/2000
- There's enough here to thrill fans of the series, but the disappointing two-player mode hurts replay value, and unlocking the cars becomes tedious. Still, if you've got room in your gaming garage after testing Need for Speed: High stakes, R4's a solid acquisition.

- Need for Speed High Stakes posted on 1/1/2000
- High Stakes' absorbing variety of ways to play and overall polish position it as one of the PlayStation's race leaders. Sure, Gran Turismo 2 is everybody's favorite pick for 1999's racing champ, but that's not due till late summer, and Need's such a cool game that no one should pass it up.

- Longtime Alpha and Street fighter fans will find Alpha 3 a welcome addition to their gaming libraries. Unlike the dismal Street Fighter III, this Alpha makes counting to "three" a pleasure.

- NHL Blades of Steel '99 posted on 1/1/2000
- Unfortunately, Blade is a rental-only title at best. If you're eager to strap on your skates, stick with NHL '99 all the way.

- NBA: In the Zone '99 posted on 1/1/2000
- The N64's cartridge format makes Zone's sparse commentary, which features Chicago Bulls' announcer Ray Clay, somewhat forgivable thanks to the in-game arena music and sound effects that put you right in the paint. Unfortunately Zone's clunky menu navigation, sluggish player switching, and confusing free-throw interface are flagrant fouls that'll make you want to sit out your contract...or force a trade on to the superior Live '99.

- MLB 2000 posted on 1/1/2000
- MLB 2000 is an excellent game that puts more emphasis on sim play than on high-scoring, arcade-style blowouts like Triple Play 2000. If you're looking for realistic action with in-depth features and a slick overall appearance, this is the baseball game to get.

- Charlie Blast's Territory posted on 1/1/2000
- Charlie Blast's Territory offers gamers a decent challenge, but it's just too slow. The multiplayer games provide some salvation as you try to blow up our friends, but Bomberman this ain't! Gamers wanting explosive action should look elsewhere.

- Goemon's Great Adventure posted on 1/1/2000
- From the mystic lands of the Far East comes Goemon's Great Adventure, an adventure unlike any you've ever played. Unfortunately, this could be a good thing or a bad thing.

- Even if you're not a Micro Machines fan, this racer is at least worth the rental.
